Since I left journalism and joined a writing agency, every day is something to learn.
I must say ghostwriting is completely different from news, scripts, and long informative articles. Because of that, I often found myself overwhelmed with lots of edits, writing task, meeting and discussion. It’s not one thing, it’s a whole package. Sometimes it breaks the flow of my writing and the process of creativity.
And then I randomly start doing 3-dot things. I took the blank sheet and put 3 dots, and thinking of what to do, I started writing.
This is how I got my first rough, messy draft. Since then, it’s become my ritual.
If you’ve been staring at a blank page lately… feeling stuck, scattered, or just not sure where to start, I want to share something that helped me when I was exactly in that place.
If you’ve been staring at a blank page lately… feeling stuck, scattered, or just not sure where to start, I want to share something that helped me when I was exactly in that place.
It’s not a big technique. It’s not even fancy. It’s just… three dots.
Yep. Three little dots. Like this: …
I use them before I begin writing anything. One for the beginning, one for the middle, and one for the end. That’s it.
It might sound silly. But those three dots? They’re my signal. My anchor. They tell my brain, “Now we begin. One story at a time.”
Where It Came From
This started during a time I was completely overwhelmed. Too many drafts. Too many ideas. And no idea where to begin. It felt like I was drowning in my own thoughts. And writing something I usually love felt impossible.
So, I made a small promise to myself: No pressure. Just three dots. Just one story.
And you know what? It worked. Those three dots helped me stop overthinking. They gave my mind a soft nudge into motion.
Try This If You’re Struggling to Start Writing
If you’re someone who wants to write more consistently, maybe for journaling, a writing career, LinkedIn, or even just for clarity, try creating a ritual of your own.
Here’s something simple I still follow every time I write:
🔹 Start strong — grab attention
🔹 Build meaning — say what matters
🔹 Close with purpose — leave a lasting thought
This tiny framework helps me when I feel lost. Because writing doesn’t have to be chaotic. It just needs a bit of rhythm. A bit of trust. A bit of structure.
Before You Go…
If you’re feeling blocked, confused, or like your words don’t matter, please hear me when I say: They do. Your thoughts deserve space. Your voice deserves the page.
And if you’re still unsure where to begin, just start with three dots.
…
Let that be your permission. To start messy. To write honestly. To show up.
You don’t need fancy tools. You don’t need to be perfect. You just need a pen. Some paper. And a little faith.
I’m here for you. And I’ll keep writing right beside you.
