Unicef recently issued the Climate Champions of Young India Fellowship, which presents a valuable opportunity for youth to engage in addressing climate change. This fellowship is supported by YuWaah-UNICEF under the National Youth Climate Consortium, aiming to empower and mobilize young people to become leaders in the fight against climate change.
They are selecting 30 Champions who will get trained by climate field experts, secure grants up to INR 65,000, establish a local NYCC chapter under NYCC's guidance, represent youth on national and international platforms, and receive technical resources.
This initiative not only provides young individuals with the necessary skills and resources to make a difference in the fight against climate change but also offers them a platform to amplify their voices and influence policy decisions at various levels.
By empowering these climate champions, the fellowship aims to create a network of youth leaders who are actively contributing towards building a sustainable future for generations to come.
The National Youth Climate Consortium (NYCC) is a collaborative initiative driven by youth leaders who are actively engaged in addressing the complex challenges posed by climate change and its interconnected issues.
The primary goal of the Consortium is to empower and reinforce grassroots youth-led networks, organizations, and individuals by leveraging and enhancing their ongoing efforts in climate action. By doing so, the NYCC aims to facilitate and promote their sustained, purposeful, and impactful involvement.
This Consortium has been established through the collaborative efforts of the Bring Back Green Foundation, with the valuable support of YuWaah-UNICEF as part of the Green Rising India Chapter.
